A quick trip to Colonel Sam Smith Park in Toronto and a tip from a friend led me to this immature female coopers hawk. I found her happily preening at first….

A nesting pair of orchard orioles at Bluffer’s Park and finally some good light! They didn’t seem to mind my presents, especially the female. The male kept his distance sneaking in and out of the trees to get a better look at me and my camera…
We had a huge down pour of rain the day before here in Toronto and today all the catfish in the southeast pond seemed to be at the surface gasping for air. The night herons and great white egrets took full advantage of this and started to gorge on the dieing fish. I have never seen so many night herons in one spot at one time. The east shores tree line was packed full of night herons and to the north was at least 8 great white egrets.
