After spending some time birding in Calgary, I must say, I LOVE IT!

With large amazing parks only 20 min. in any direction getting out to good birding locations is easy and fast in Calgary. Ground Squirrel Another bonus is the sun, rarely is it overcast here in Calgary and so far about 90% of my time here has been in the sun. Not only birds, but wildlife in general is abundant here and so far on every outing (very often too!) I have seen plenty of mule deer, about ten mature bald eagles and tons of ground squirrels to keep the larer birds of prey fed!

Next week I hope to photograph the large ferruginous hawk and short-eared owls. On my owl list to find are, Boreal Owl, Great Gray Owl, Northern Pygmy Owls.

A few shots from the past few outings in and around Fish Creek Provincial Park at the bottom of Bow Bottom Trail SE in Calgary.

My first Alberta Great Horned Owl from today.

Rob - amazing photos. The GHO and magpie are my favourites. You are capturing the wildlife fast. Can’t wait to see more. The GHO is beautiful. Ann

Inspiring, Rob! The action pose on the Nuthatch is a particular favourite.

I’m looking forward to seeing the Western sights myself soon.
