Pheasant Under Grass
April 19th, 2008 by Rob McKay
I have seen so many pheasant in my life! Calgary seems to have them hiding around every corner. If you cant see them you certainly can hear there calls.
Most of the time though they take off before you see them, I was lucky to get a few shots of this male before he headed out!
Checking me out before he heads out!
Another common beast are the coyotes, and beside our site in a vacant field are a male and female. I hope to get a little closer next time as the den is near.
The male coyote,
And here is his mate,

As usual great shots Rob. Good to hear from you. Are they under snow now? Have been enjoying sightings we know you’d be going mad for.
Thanks Frank!
I just missed the snow out there. I’m back in TO for a few weeks but the day I was heading out of Calgay they got hit with about a foot of snow! The next day it went to about 12c and everything melted. Strange weather out there!
Popped into Rossetta the other day and the hole in the tree had a raccoon’s tail hanging out of it…..

Rob: The pheasant is stunning. The colours wow. Nice shots of the coyotes also. Ann
Remarkable bird– the feathers look painted! Didn’t see any myself, but time and distance were limited… stunning!
