East Humber Bay Park Winter Ducks
January 18th, 2008 by Rob McKay
Something strange happened today in Toronto, around 1:30 the sun came out! It felt strange, my eyes had to adjust but it was true, the sun was finally shinning! I quickly grabbed my camera bag figuring as soon as I zipped it up it would suddenly cloud over like many times before!
Nope, still sun, so far so good…. I had to hurry because I knew this wouldn’t last, so I picked a close location. No time to loose I rushed down to the Humber Bay Park East and to my surprise the sun was still shinning when I arrived!
Lots of ducks in the water today but the high winds put a good chill in the air so I only stayed for a few hours. I walked out and around the east point twice but didn’t see much, not a single song bird to be found.

With this light, I was hoping to catch a few birds in flight with high shutter speeds but didn’t get many opportunities.
Birds seen today included the American Wigeon, Redhead, Buffleheads, Long Tail, Gadwell, Scaup, Mergansers and of course some Mallards, Canada Geese & a few Swans.

Nice shots. The water is so blue and the sky is it really blue! I don’t think I have see the sun for weeks now. Great shots Rob.
