G Ross Lord Park Toronto
October 25th, 2007 by Rob McKay
My first birding visit to G Ross Lord Park was late in the afternoon on October 25th. I was surprised by the size of the reservoir, I was also surprised by the amount of ducks! There had to be 100 mallards floating about, plenty of Canada Geese, one Red Tailed Hawk and watched one lone Great Blue Heron fishing the north section of the reservoir. I did see other ducks, but I could not get close enough to ID them. This is a large park, and I would need more than an hour to see it all, but the sun setting and my time was up. I will definitely be back, but will need a full day to see all the nooks and crannies G Ross Lord Park offers. Other birds of interest, black capped chickadee’s, downy woodpeckers, and kinglets.
