First time birding the Humber Arboretum area and I loved it! It has everything a birder could want, meadows, fields, brush, ponds, forests and of course the West Humber River. I hiked about 15k in total, gorgeous day to be out and about, sunny but cool made for perfect hiking (lugging camera equipment) conditions.

Buck feeding along side the Humber RiverSaw 3 mockingbirds, easily located by the distinct sound they make, I approached the first bird of the day and this mockingbird was very cooperative and posed for a few photos.

Lots of deer tracks, and within 45 minutes of getting there I saw this nice buck. He was totally backlit by the sun, but what the heck, I had to get a few shots of him.

After hiking east of hwy 27 I decided to head back west towards the deciduous woodland forest.

Deciduous Woodland

Mushrooms in the forest Forest trails I finally made it to the deciduous woodland located Just south of the Humber Arboretum, what a great spot this is! I spent over an hour in the forest hiking many of the trails and pathways, eyes peeled for owls, but no luck today. This woodland area is a perfect location for owls, will have to look a little harder next time!
A few photos from the deciduous woodland.
