Leslie Street Spit Spring Birds
May 6th, 2007 by Rob McKay
I hiked out to the spit today for a little birding, with about 10 pounds of camera gear, heavy binoculars, and for added weight, a snack! It was a beautiful warm spring afternoon on the spit and I was itching to get out for a good walk and nothing says good walk like the Leslie Street Spit!
Lots of tree swallows, warblers including the yellow warbler, a few killdeers and a happy pair of canvasback’s. Also watched a resident red tailed hawk, a kestrel and three cotton tail rabbits.
