Migrating Birds of Prey
October 21st, 2007 by Rob McKay
Arrived at Rosetta McClain Gardens at 9:00 a.m. today and it didn’t take long to see some Migrating raptors. By 11:00 a.m. we saw two peregrine falcons, countless sharp shinned hawks, a few kestrels, coopers hawks and a northern harrier.
The usual Rosetta hawk watching gang was there counting and pointing, calling out, “SHARPIE!”. Birds or no birds, its always fun conversing with Frank and the crew.
Later in the day, Ann captured some great shots of a Peregrine falcon in action! On closer inspection, noticed this bird had a bell & pair of jesses on, this was a trained (for falconry) peregrine, or not so trained….
The record breaking temperature today was 26 C!
I was only there for a few hours, for the days totals and detailed count check out Frank’s blog.
A few migrating sharp shinned hawk photos from the day,
On the move!
A sharpie moving fast!
