Toronto & GTA
Bird watching & birding photography in Toronto and the GTA (greater Toronto area) has plenty of opportunities for the photographer and watcher alike. Located on the shores of Lake Ontario, Toronto has a great number of migratory bird species including waterfowl, passerines, raptors (birds of prey) and songbirds that migrate west every fall along the shores of Lake Ontario. Toronto parks offer a vast amount of open space from woodland, meadow and wetland marsh. The species of birds and wildlife are numerous. Finding new locations for bird watching & photography are endless with the hundreds of parks and hot spots available for the birder in Toronto & the GTA.
Of interest is the Canadian Peregrine Foundation, (yes peregrine falcons do live in Toronto!) dedicated to the restoration and recovery of endangered and threatened raptors (birds of prey) in Canada.
