Don Valley BrickWorks

Birding the Don Valley BrickWorks, also known as the Bayview BrickWorks because its located right off of the Bayview extension is a great stop for the photographer & bird watcher with plenty of opportunities to photograph herons, hawks, migratory waterfowl and a variety of song birds. Located beside the Don Valley, the now defunct facility supplied the materials for many turn of the century landmarks including Casa Loma stables and the Ontario Legislature. The decaying buildings first opened in 1889 and closed in 1984 are slowly being restored on this 40 acre property. Behind the old Brikworks factory are many ponds connected by bridges and pathways. The Don Valley BrickWorks ponds are home to many species of wildlife including an abundance of turtles, night herons and a few local kingfishers, a perfect location for birding in Toronto. 550 Bayview Ave. Bayview Extension, south of Pottery Rd.
