A tip from a friend sent me on an excursion to Toronto’s Edwards Gardens to find and hopefully photograph a local sharp shinned hawk. Finding it was tough, but trying to get a good photo was even tougher. Filtered light through the pine trees made it very difficult to get a good shot.

Wilket Creek, a tributaries of the Don River’s West Branch runs through Edwards Gardens and there are usually plenty of waterfowl to observe as well as song birds and some local raptors. The gardens feature perennials and roses on the uplands and wildflowers, rhododendrons and an extensive rockery in the valley. Edwards Gardens is located on the southwest corner of Leslie Street and Lawrence Avenue East in Toronto, Ontario.
