High Park Birding & the oak savannahs in High Park Toronto, form one of the most famous and admires aspects of the site. High Park Toront Egret These savannahs are the remnants of the sand prairie system that once covered much of the Ontario, Canada’s landscape, a perfect bird watching and photography location in the GTA. High Park is the largest park in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It spans 161 hectares or 398 acres, in Toronto’s west end. A variety of waterfowl can be seen and photographed here as well as, herons and great egrets and plenty of song birds. Two other ponds are located in High Park and the famous Hawk Hill. Many bird watchers gather at hawk hill in the fall for migrating raptors (birds of prey) and official counts are taken. Sightings in this area include eagles, red tailed hawks, broad wing, coopers, sharp shinned, peregrines falcons, merlins and other species of raptors. High park is large and you will need more than one day to cover all its nooks and crannies. A perfect location for bird watching and birding photography in the GTA.
