Leslie Street Spit


Birding the Leslie Street Spit’s (also known as Tommy Thompson Park) urban wilderness is always interesting at any time of year. Bird watchers and photographers will have a blast in this city wilderness with over 300 species, including migratory birds, The Birds Of Leslie Street Spit/Tommy Thompson Park the Leslie Street Spit/Tommy Thompson Park is a great “easy to get to” location in the GTA. Bird species include, wintering snowy owls, many species of ducks, song birds, shorebirds and birds of prey. The spit extends into Lake Ontario about 5 km and is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at the base of Leslie Street (see map below). The Spit is open year round every weekend except Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year’s day between 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from April through October and 9:00 to 4:30 p.m. from November to March.
